Just before 11pm Peterborough paramedics received a call for an unconscious male in his 50’s at a Aylmer St residents. Paramedics and firefighters were dispatched, while responding they were advised this was the results of an assault and police would also be responding.

Upon arrival they located a male with multiple facial traumas, paramedics treated the victim and transported him to PRHC while police began their investigation. A male on scene was detained by police and placed in the back of a patrol car but was released moments later and he returned back into the house.

It is not known how sever the injuries are or if the attacker is known to the victim. I will update the story if more information becomes available.

Paramedics treated a single rider of a scooter after an accident at the intersection of Lock and Ware St. The male driver was treated inside of the ambulance after his scooter slid about 15 feet along the road way, luckily the driver was wearing a helmet and was not transported to hospital

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Armour Rd and Parkhill Rd East after a two vehicle collision caused a SUV to mount the curb and hit a park vehicle in the driveway.

Paramedics and firefighters responded but no patients were transported.

Peterborough Paramedics responded to a unknown medical call down on Simcoe St around the area of the pathway by the river. Upon arrival they heard the patient on the river bank, paramedics located the patient who they suspected went off the Hunter St bridge and was in the water for approximately 10-15 mins before being able to get out. Paramedics were able to bring the patient up from the river bank before police and firefighters arrived, he was transported to PRHC with unknown injuries.

A boy was struck by a car at the intersection of Armour and Parkhill Rd. Emergency crews responded and Paramedics transported him to PRHC with unknown injuries. While on scene Paramedics received a call for a pedestrian struck and killed by a transport truck on Highway 7 east of Burnham Line, that video link is below.

Shortly after 7pm Selwyn Firefighters responded to reports of explosions at Lakefield District Intermediate School. Upon arrival they discovered thick smoke coming from a part of the building that was under construction. At one time at least 14 firefighters could be seen battling the fire. The smoke was so thick it was difficult to see a 100 feet in front of you. Part of the village was consumed in foggy smoke with a horrible smell to it. Firefighters had the flames under control but was still dealing with thick smoke coming from the site.

Peterborough firefighters responded to Brock Towers after reports of smoke coming from a 5th floor apartment. Upon arrival they gained entry to find a an apartment full of smoke and a mattress on fire with the tenet still inside of the apartment. The fire was extinguished and the smoke was quickly vented out of the building. The tenet did not require any medical attention and its unknown if any damage was done to the apartment.

These are a couple fights filmed within a 30 minute period after the bars got out at 2am, this has become a regular occurrence down town on a busy bar nights!

Emergency crews are on scene at the A&W on Lansdowne Street after a vehicle drove through the window beside the main entrance. It is not know if customers were in the store at the time but Paramedics were on scene and no injuries were reported. Firefighters cleaned up as much as they could and covered the opening with a tarp, Police are on scene to conduct their investigation.

Within 15 mins Peterborough first responders responded to two calls for pedestrians struck by vehicles. Unfortunately just after 8pm emergency personnel received a call after a 57 year old female pedestrian who was trying to cross the highway when she was struck and killed by a transport truck on Highway 7 east of Burnham Line. OPP's Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are on scene conducting their investigation.

Shortly after 11:30pm Peterborough Firefighters responded to reports of a fire inside of a house on Trailview Drive. Upon arrival they discovered two neighbours extinguished the fire with tap water and a portable extinguisher after hearing the occupants calls for help.

The quick acting neighbours assisted the occupant out of the house before firefighters arrived. Firefighters assessed three people for smoke inhalation before paramedics arrived, they then ensured the fire was completely out before venting the structure and removing sections of carpet which appeared to be what was on fire.

Paramedics treated one occupant on scene for smoke inhalation and minor burns before transporting her to hospital.

Fire officials say the quick actions by neighbours prevented a much worse tragedy. The cause is suspected to be careless use of smoking materials.

Firefighters from both the City of Peterborough and from Selwyn departments responded to Robert Young Construction located at 1488 Chemong Rd just after 10:30pm after witnesses travelling down Chemong Rd reported seeing lots of white smoke coming from a building located on the property. Peterborough firefighters were first on scene and discovered a working fire inside one of the shops garages. Upon entry they located a fully engulfed transport truck, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and began venting the thick smoke from the building. A large excavator was used to drag the smouldering remain of the truck out from the garage. The cause of the fire or the cost of the damages are unknown at this time and no injuries were reported.

At approx 9:30pm OPP responded to the area of Woodland Dr and Water St, their investigation led them to a wooded area along Water St. They are looking for a male who could be in possession of some firearms.

OPP closed Water St with the help of city police, Officers have set up containment closing off all the side streets. Responding officers have been seen with their hard armour and C-8 rifles patrolling the area.

OPP have called in a K-9 unit as well as members of the Emergency Response Team, they have also requested a drone with infrared camera technology to assist in searching the woods.

Member of the Emergency Response Team could be seen searching a house and backyard on Woodland Dr as well as officers bringing a box of items out. The drone is seen flying above as the K-9 and ERT members entered the wood to begin their track.

Peterborough firefighters were busy tonight after responding to two fires back to back. Firefighters were on scene of a heater fire at Empress Gardens on Charlotte St tonight just before 11pm when they received a call of a fire located on the second floor of an O’Connell Ave house.

Upon arrival firefighters saw smoke coming from the roof of the house and quickly made entry, they then seen the flames on the second story and began attacking the fire.

One occupant of the house was treated on scene by paramedics and transported to hospital for possible smoke inhalation, firefighters quickly had the fire under control and began venting the house.

It is not know how the the fire started at this time but is currently under investigation.

Peterborough firefighters responded to a structure fire on Giles Ave just after 7pm. Upon arrival they discovered a fully engulfed garage fire which spread to the house above. Firefighters quickly attacked the fire which could be seen as far as Brealey St. The house was occupied at the time, everybody made it out without injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation but a neighbour says he believed it started by a car inside of the garage.

Around 2:30a.m. Peterborough Police and paramedics responded to the corner of George and Hunter streets after reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival they discovered one male patient who suffered obvious stab wounds to his back and injuries to his face during which occurred during an altercation. Paramedics quickly treated the victim before transporting him to PRHC, while police secured the scene including a large kitchen knife that was recovered on the road for their investigation. No further information is available at this time but I will update the story when police release more information.

A two vehicle collision took out multiple hydro poles on Aylmer St South between Romaine St and Princess St causing approx 5600 customers to lose power. The accident occurred outside of the YMCA, staff quickly closed the building asking all their members to leave due to the power outage. One patient was treated on scene by paramedics and firefighters before being transported to hospital. Police have the immediate area blocked off while PUC begins working on the poles. There’s no word on what time hydro will be restored or when Aylmer St will open back up.

Paramedics and firefighters responded to a two vehicle collision just west of the Lansdowne St and the Ashburnham Rd intersection. Upon arrival they discovered a two car collision which caused one car to mount the curb and hit a guide wire to a hydro pole. Crews treated 3 patients on scene before transporting them to PRHC with unknown injuries.

Firefighters from Douro Dummer responded to a single vehicle accident on University Rd between County Rd 4 and Nassau Mills Rd. A pick-up truck went off the road colliding with a hydro pole breaking it in half, Hydro One employees are on site as well as a salter truck which was called in do to the icy roads. University Rd is currently down to one lane while work on the pole is completed. It is not known if anybody was transported to hospital.
